Short Answer: For cables with mil-spec round connectors (metal connectors), only use the ring with the serial number to tighten/loosen the connector.
Long Answer:
The PC-Com cable, SuperSting™ battery cable with clip, firmware cable, and office power supply cable use our mil-spec round connector. Unlike the electrode/extension cables, which use plastic rings—these connectors use metallic rings.
These connectors have a ring and a back shell. The ring has a serial number and two lines of grips. The back shell and strain relief clamped to the cable are torqued with a wrench at the factory, so tugging/rotating them is NOT recommended.
The proper way to connect and disconnect:
- Line up the PC-Com, SuperSting™ battery, firmware, or office power supply cable to the female port.
- Push the cable in just enough that it feels stable.
- Turn the ring with the serial number
- Clockwise to tighten the connection
- Counter-clockwise to loosen the disconnect the cable

The risks of improper removal:
Pulling on the cable, rotating the back shell, or tugging on the back shell may damage or cause a short in the cable, which could cause a Transmitter Offline error.
This also means downtime from having to do a short-term fix or sending the cable in for repairs.
