How do I perform a Receiver Test for my SuperSting ™ R1 to R8 WiFi (also all pre WiFi R8 models)?

Follow the 6 steps below to perform a Receiver Test.

  1. Connect the SuperSting™ to an isolated 12V battery (Raised off the ground onto wood or plastic. Make sure no other devices are plugged into the battery such as chargers or other electronics).  Another lighter weight option is to use AGI AC/DC Power Supplies with a small generator.

  2. Remove any SwitchBoxes and connect either the SuperSting™ R8 Adapter Box Receiver Test Port ( for 2016 and newer models) or the Test Box which has only 1 port for this test.  The Test Box is a small black box with single round port that is included with models older than year 2016.  Use the 1 meter yellow patch cable to connect one of these test devices. testbox-1

    results
Example of good Receiver Test results from SuperSting indoors.  Typical field values in cold and hot environments will be +-5% of 500 mohm.

Additional Notes:

You should soon see 8 values close to 500mohm (+-5%).  The acceptable range is 475 to 525 mohm. If not, try an alternate 2m extension cable and run again.

Check all barrel connections to make sure they are 100% fully rotated. Do not turn the strain relief or back portion of the connectors. Only turn the smaller round ring that locks the connectors. If they do not turn easily, lift and slightly turn the ring and then try to insert and close them again.  They can become locked if pushed on with the ring in certain positions.  If the ring is hard to turn when completely disconnected, they need to be ultrasonically cleaned or replaced.  Please contact AGI (help@agiusa.com) for instructions or to arrange a cleaning.

If the Receiver Test is OK, you should proceed to do a Relay Test as well.
